Sports Business Education and Research Promotion Fund
Activating Sports Using the Power of Business
In 2016, the Center for Research in Business Administration of Kyoto University’s Graduate School of Management and the Kyoto University American Football Club concluded a cooperation agreement for joint research and projects.
The aim of the agreement is to contribute to develop promotion plans for sports organizations by working together to pursue research and projects that will assist these organizations in areas such as business administration, governance, and marketing. Under the agreement, the Graduate School of Management is developing plans to promote student internships, conduct project research with specific companies and organizations, and undertake active research into these kinds of initiatives.

Project themes for fulufilling the aims of this agreement include fostering education and research concerning the management of sports businesses and sports organizations as well as the promotion of university sports. This prompted the decision to establish the Sports Business Education and Research Promotion Fund to secure funds for financing such projects.

To promote education and research concerning sports business that the center and club will undertake, the fund will be used to invite professionals and researchers in sports business and other areas; host symposia, seminars and other events; recruit faculty and administrative staff; and conduct market surveys and other research projects.
